April is National Poetry Month and the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission is hosting the Second Annual “Risk A Verse” poetry event on Sunday April 23rd. National Poetry Month is the largest literary celebration in the world, with tens of millions of readers. One of its goals is to encourage the reading of poems, and the Cultural Arts Commission is inviting YOU to join in and recite your favorite poem! We are looking for Newtown residents to share their favorite published poem with the community. If you are interested, please email us at [email protected].
Even if you are not reciting, please come and attend this fun and free event which will be followed by a wine and snack reception.
The event will be held at the Meeting House, located at 31 Main St in Newtown on Sunday April 23rd at 2 pm. It is free of charge but donations are welcome! The funds raised will be used towards this summer’s Art Festival and to help fund the NCAC’s scholarship program. With a donation of $5 or more, attendees will receive a booklet of all the poems presented at the event.
